FTTH drop cable production

The production process of FTTH (Fiber to the Home) optical cable mainly includes the following key steps:

1. Optical Fiber Manufacturing:
• Raw Material Purification: High-purity SiO2 and other dopants are used, and purification processes such as distillation and adsorption are employed to ensure extremely low metal impurity content in the raw materials.
• Preform Growth: Chemical vapor deposition methods (such as MCVD, VAD, OVD, etc.) are used to deposit substances like silica on the inner wall of a rotating quartz tube, forming a hollow preform.
• Drawing: The preform is heated to an appropriate temperature and then drawn to form optical fibers of uniform diameter. Precise control of temperature and speed is required during the drawing process.

2. Optical Cable Core Manufacturing:
• Optical fibers with excellent transmission characteristics are selected and subjected to stress screening.
• Sampling inspections are conducted on various materials used in cable assembly (such as strength members, wrapping tapes, filling compounds, etc.).
• According to the optical cable structure (such as stranded, skeletal, central tube, etc.), the optical fibers are combined with other materials to form the cable core.

3. Sheath Extrusion:
• Appropriate sheath materials and structures are selected to meet the requirements of different usage environments.
• An optical cable sheath extrusion machine is used to extrude the sheath material onto the outer surface of the cable core.
• The extrusion speed, exit temperature, and temperature gradient of the cooling water are controlled to ensure stable performance of the sheath material.

4. Performance Testing and Inspection:
• Performance tests such as tensile strength, temperature characteristics, and attenuation are conducted on the optical cable.
• The appearance of the optical cable, the integrity of the sheath, and the arrangement of the optical fibers are inspected for compliance with requirements.

5. Packaging and Delivery:
• Qualified optical cables are packaged with information such as specifications and intended use indicated.
• Delivery and transportation are carried out according to customer requirements.

The production process of FTTH optical cables requires strict quality control at every step to ensure that the final product can meet the demands for high-speed, stable, and reliable communication.
